Theatre of Peace: Youth Anti-Bullying Acting Troupe (“TOP”)

Casting Call: Ages 11-20; Any Gender

TOP, a division of 501(c)(3) nonprofit Act Like You Matter, runs student-led, solution-driven, anti-bullying Assemblies at K-12 schools in San Diego County and LA County. We perform vignettes that demonstrate tools students can use to overcome/combat bullying and build resilience.

After an extensive break during the pandemic, we expect to return to live performances this fall, so we’re actively seeking new troupe members! In addition to returning to live performances, we’ll continue what we’ve been doing during COVID: (1) Creating video versions of our programs; (2) Creating new programs/content surrounding all issues relevant to our generation; and (3) Amping up our presence on social media to continue to be a resource to kids and teens and ensure that no one feels alone in what they’re experiencing.

The ideal candidate for our troupe is someone who wants to make a difference in the lives of their peers and change the world for the better. A stipend will be paid for performances with a student audience, but please do not submit if your primary goal is being paid! Submission Requirements:

• Seeking actors of any gender: ages 11 – 20
• Experience as a dramatic actor is a plus but not mandatory
• Personal experience with bullying, microaggression, racism, discrimination, etc. is of value
• Willingness to work together as a team & value all members of the troupe
• Able to attend at least 1 rehearsal per month either in person (4S Ranch 92127) or via Zoom

SUBMIT HEADSHOT, RESUME, & VIDEO AUDITION VIA EMAIL.  Please include these in your video:

• Tell us your name, age, height, grade, & school
• Perform a 1-2 minute dramatic monologue: either previously published or original work
• Talk to us about you. Feel free to include anything that makes you … you.

• Most importantly, please be yourself! We are a diverse team made up of unique individuals. We want to see the real YOU in the video 🙂
• Video does not have to be fancy! Just shoot it on your phone.
