Amy Jones Anichini Talks Post-Show at Moxie Theatre About Empowerment and How to  Manage Encounters with Bullying Behavior

Join us at Moxie Theatre in San Diego on Sunday, May 28, 2023, for the 2pm performance of The Chronicles of Kalki followed by a Q&A with our Founder and President Amy Jones Anichini.

Act Like You Matter, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides tools to help students build resilience and manage encounters with rude, mean, or bullying behaviors, is thrilled to be a Community Partner with Moxie Theatre in their production of The Chronicles of Kalki, which runs now through June 4, 2023. The partnership is an ideal way to empower San Diego’s youth through theatre, and the show is sure to spark discussions about topics relevant to all of us, no matter what age we are.

The Chronicles of Kalki raises so many topics related to the challenges of growing up that we might not have time to discuss everything,” said Amy Jones Anichini, Founder and President of Act Like You Matter and Executive Director of Theatre of Peace: Youth Anti-Bullying Actors & Empowerment Advocates. “Themes of resilience, empowerment, self-awareness, self-acceptance, and friendship are woven throughout the show but in an unconventional way, which should grab and hold the audience’s attention. There’s a bullying incident that I expect will spark a lot of important converation about both how to overcome being treated in a cruel and embarrassing way and what we can do as individuals, schools, and communities to prevent bullying behavior from happening. These are discussions I have with students – both through the programs we run at schools and in private coaching and school staff all the time, and I’m thrilled to be able to discuss them with Moxie’s audience.”

About The Chronicles of Kalki (Source: MoxieTheatre.com)

This comic-book-infused girl-gang thriller chronicles the adventures and mysterious disappearance of Kalki, a young woman who may or may not be the final avatar of Vishnu. Has Kalki come to rid the world of demons and evil or just to make high school a hell of a lot more interesting?

PLEASE BE ADVISED. The Chronicles of Kalki is irreverent, provocative, and a hell of a lot of fun. It explores themes of young female empowerment, sexuality and queerness. It may not be suitable for all audiences.
